When I drew the Death card a couple of weeks ago I had no idea what was in store for me. Tonight, I am thankful that I am still in my body and I am incredibly thankful for my loyal car for keeping it safe.

The second card I drew in this particular spread was the Hanged Man. It's a card of suspension. It's a card that asks us to wait patiently while everything falls in place. It's a card that asks us not to react but to wait and watch and see where everything lands before making the next decision.
________________
For a soul that is learning patience, suspension can be painful. It asks us to acquiesce to situations that are uncomfortable and unwanted. It asks us to accept that rush of blood to the head - to actual feel it instead of scurrying on to the next feeling. It asks us to analyze it and learn from it and in return it promises the reward of true clarity.
________________
Today I am thankful for the gift of suspension. The ability to relax in times of stress and the unexpected support which showed up out of no where. I am thankful for all the players involved and all of the minute details that kept a bad situation from being a terrible situation. I am thankful to be here in a healthy body and a sound mind.

I've been feeling much like this tree the past few weeks. My desires for something more have reached an all time high and my environment in many ways is restricting my growth. Both professionally along with a close personal friendship - the need to expand has been demanding and emotionally draining.

But then something unexpected occurred last week. Movement. Change. It came out of no where like a hurricane and in the midst of the destruction I found space.
________________
I've cried many times in the past week. My frustration with feeling restricted - the sadness of having to let go - the joy of clarity - the confusion of sudden emptiness. Death is intense and it hurts. Not only did I experience death in a metephorical way but I also had an old friend pass away suddenly a few days ago. With his death brought a profound sense of perspective. An understanding that nothing is permanent and a sobering reminder that any moment can be your last.

My intention for this season is to be honest with the desires of my heart. With this rebirth I am leaving behind the person who was willing to compromise her dreams because she was concerned with how others would view her.

Your life is too short to let others create it for you.

Sometimes it's really hard to see what you're actually doing. The bigger picture gets lost in all the details that make up each moment in life. You go in with one intention and then the next thing you know it's gone from your mind. So many twists and turns. New discoveries and new interests.

I love that my business is called The Ebb and The Flow. It describes exactly what I love so much about life - the ups and downs. One minute you're on the top of the world and the next you have no idea how you got to where you are.

Those nodes in between where the crest and trough meet are where you find peace and balance. They are more reliable. Indeed, they do happen twice as often as each high and each low.

I had to make a decision earlier this week and it was a personally intense one. I am terrible at making decisions. I weigh the options over and over and over again in my mind until I get to the point where I say fuck it and put it off until the next day...or week...or month.

When I finally made the decision and acted on it everything started to open up again. All of the pain from the decision making process was completely self inflicted. I knew as soon as I sent the email I had made the correct decision for right now at this moment in my life.
________________
It got me thinking about paths...and how we get places. And how, for me, experiencing those blocks was a vital part of the decision making process. I wouldn't have the confidence in my choice unless I had experienced that sort of release of energy and a reconnection to my personal flow.

I've always been obsessed with texture especially in black and white images. Over the next few weeks I will be sharing images from my project called ZEN. All the images were taken during an hour walk around Lake Luzerne in upstate New York during the summer of 2016.

So often as a photographer I have to put boundaries up and tell myself it's ok to not capture every thing I want. For this one hour, I allowed myself to indulge with my camera and photograph every beautiful moment that caught my eye.

It was utterly satisfying. To be in your flow, connected with nature and completely focused is truly a magical experience. It's a practice that is imperative to the wellbeing of the soul.

After 6 months of telling myself I needed to find a yoga space I finally found one. For weeks I've been staring out of my bathroom window looking at that platform but there had been a big cement brick on it which I couldn't move by myself. A couple of days ago my stepdad moved it for me and today I finally had my first practice.
I'm not sure about other people but my yoga practice likes to disappear from me for awhile. I've always wished I had the discipline to practice every day but that's not how I work.
I was delighted to find that I am still as strong as I've been - if not stronger, albeit a little tight. It's nothing a mantra of let go and a bit of consistency can't fix.
I'm sure that's a good motto to live by. Be consistent and remember to let go. You already have everything you need. It's just a matter of practice.
